Military History
Purpose: Designed to educate and inform students about our Military History. This course will take a brief look at important battles that shaped the world. We will start with modern advances during the Greek and Roman empires. It will then take a more in-depth look at America’s military role throughout the process of becoming the United States of American that we know today. We will focus on the background and set-up for conflict, tactics, military personnel, technological advances, and government’s role in military.

Books: · Battle: A History Of Combat And Culture: John Lynn looks at some of the first recorded battles and emphasizes the rules and conduct of warfare that will shape military history for countless years. · American Military History: Allison, Grey, and Valentine overview each of America’s involvement in conflicts since colonial times to current day.
The texts will be issued to you at the beginning of the semester. You are required to bring them each day to class unless otherwise noted.
Paper:
Research Project: We will be doing a research project that will cover a key event that you feel as the biggest impact on the shaping of the United States or the world. It will be a 5-7 page typed paper. You will be given class time and time in the library to work on your projects.
